A diamond painting from your photo is a chart you follow to lay a picture out of square drills. Upload a photo and set a size of 10 to 150 cm: the app maps the image onto 2.5 mm drills with no gaps, picks at most 60 colours out of 454 with DMC-compatible codes and counts the drills of every colour. You can view the chart with colour symbols in the app and print it at full size on A4 or A3 sheets.
How the chart is built. Diamond is a palette of the matrix technique: the photo is split into an even grid where every cell is one 2.5 × 2.5 mm drill. The cell colour is averaged over its area and matched to the nearest shade of the palette. To make the chart easy to follow, stray single drills of another colour are cleaned up and the number of colours is capped: 60 by default, or fewer — down to 4.
How many drills. There are 4 drills per centimetre: a 30 × 40 cm panel is 120 × 160 = 19,200 drills, 50 × 70 cm is 200 × 280 = 56,000. Under the result you get the count for every colour — code, symbol, name and the number of drills with a 10 % reserve (you can change the reserve). The same count is in the PDF legend and in the “send by email” message.
Full-size printing. Under the result choose “Download PDF” → “Print layout A4/A3”: the first page is the sheet map and the legend, then come the sheets with a symbol on every drill, crop marks, a mini legend and a 100 mm bar to check the scale. In the app you can view the chart fragment by fragment with “Show symbols”.

Diamond painting (also called diamond art) is a picture made of small square drills laid out from a chart with colour symbols. A mosaic by numbers in ANDAMENTO is the same kind of chart on an even grid, but made of real tiles — Flory12 and Flory24 glass or MELTI smalti — with a colour number on every tile and a count in pieces, kilograms and packs. Both charts come from the matrix technique.
A drill is 2.5 × 2.5 mm, that is 4 drills per centimetre. A 30 × 40 cm panel takes 120 × 160 = 19,200 drills, 40 × 50 cm — 160 × 200 = 32,000. The app counts the drills of every colour from the finished chart and adds a 10 % reserve for losses — you can change the reserve in the field under the count.
We built the app's palette from an open colour table: every shade has a code compatible with DMC so you can match the drills by number. DMC codes are used only to identify the colour — nominative use of the trade mark (clause 7.4 of the Terms): DMC is a trade mark of its owner, the manufacturer has no connection with ANDAMENTO and has not reviewed the palette. On-screen colours are approximate — check against real samples.
Every drill on the chart carries a colour symbol: a shape, a digit or a letter. The legend on the first PDF pages lists the symbol, a colour swatch, the name with its code, the drill count and the count with a 10 % reserve. At the bottom of every sheet there is a mini legend: the symbols of that sheet with code and count. Signs that are easy to confuse on a small drill (0 and O, 8 and B, 5 and S) are not in the set.
Under the result press “Download PDF” → “Print layout A4/A3”. The chart is split into sheets of whole drills; every sheet has crop marks and a 100 mm bar: print at 100 % with no “fit to page” and check the bar with a ruler. The first page is the sheet map that shows how the sheets go together. With Pro the print layout uses no credits.
Drills are sold by DMC colour codes in craft and needlework shops: take the list of codes and counts from the estimate under the result or from the PDF legend. artworker.shop does not sell drills — it has smalti, glass tiles and supplies for a real mosaic; for that, a mosaic by numbers from Flory12 or Flory24 tiles is the right choice.
Yes, from your own photo — upload pictures you have the rights to. Diamond is a Pro feature, and matrix technique charts are never published to the feed: the work stays in your account. If the photo has a different proportion than the panel, the app offers “Edit sketch” to move the frame or fill the margins.
Diamond is part of the matrix technique in the Pro subscription: a chart costs 1 credit, the A4/A3 print layout uses no credits. Pro includes 120 credits a month. Without a subscription you can set up the form and look around; starting a chart opens the Pro window.
